Getting Everyone on the same page:

We had a hard time getting everyone aligned on a single vision for the game. Our main breakthrough was printing out all the concept art, 3d models, and layouts for each level and sticking them on our wall. That allowed everyone to see the whole picture of the game. Multiple times throughout the process people would go into the “idea room” and think about where their task fit in the grander scheme.

Organizing Tasks on a kanban:

Ling and the Corrupted Hollow was the first time I used a physical Kanban. We started using it at the end of the project to track what tasks needed to be completed before we can ship. Having a wall of sticky notes helped keep everyone aware of where the project was at. There was also the added benefit of a morale boost when a person would move their task from “to do” to “done.”

Team Culture is Important:

From the start of the project the leads knew we wanted to have a positive and fun culture in our team. We made sure that there were always toys or interesting objects to play with in the room. We also decorated the room for the holidays so that the team did not feel like they were going into the same boring room each day. I think this worked really well and the team had fun coming in each time.
